Thursday afternoon, the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal assisted Mid Columbia Fire Rescue on the MP 87 Fire in The Dalles.
According to the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office Level 2 “Get Set” evacuation notices were put in place for Columbia Heights but were later lowered.
OSFM’s regional mobilization coordinator responded and was able to coordinate with Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Forestry ODF to launch air support.
The OSFM also moved two task forces that were previously assigned to Miller Road Fire near Maupin to help.
Through Senate Bill 762, the OSFM has the ability to order air assets through mutual aid agreements.
