The Cram Fire remained active overnight, driven by low humidity and strong northeast winds reaching up to 16 mph. Firefighters on night shift focused on point protection and structure patrols along the west side of the fire, where homes and critical infrastructure remain threatened.
Crews also supported the Rangeland Fire Protection Association with burnout operations to reinforce containment lines on the fire’s north side. As fire activity intensified on the southern flank, firefighters worked to protect threatened structures and build additional containment lines.
The fire has burned an estimated 64,295 acres, according to data from an overnight infrared flight. Containment remains challenging, and fire managers anticipate continued growth today. A shift in wind direction expected by early afternoon may further test containment lines.
Crews are preparing for dynamic fire behavior throughout the day. Efforts will continue to reinforce containment lines and connect any unlined sections of the fire perimeter.
The Wolf Creek Hotshots arrived Tuesday to assist in suppression efforts, following the demobilization of the Prineville Hotshots earlier in the day. Structural task forces from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office remain actively engaged in protecting structures across the fire area, working closely with local fire departments and wildland crews.
The High Desert Type 3 Incident Management Team remains in unified command with the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Green Incident Management Team. Today, the Northwest Complex Incident Management Team 10 will begin shadowing operations in preparation for a transition into unified command on Thursday, ensuring a seamless handoff and continued incident support.
