Fire managers and local officials provided updates and answered questions at a public meeting Friday night at Jefferson County Middle School. A recording of the meeting is available on the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Facebook page.
The Cram Fire has burned an estimated 95,769 acres and remains under investigation. There are 775 personnel assigned to the incident.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that six structures have been lost to the fire, including four homes and two other buildings.
Fire activity moderated Friday on the north side of the fire. Oregon State Fire Marshal task forces focused on checking for heat, extinguishing hotspots, limbing fire-damaged juniper trees, and clearing brush near homes to reduce the risk of flare-ups. As progress continues in the north, some crews and equipment are being reassigned to areas with more active fire behavior, although structure protection and mop-up work will continue.
On the southeastern edge, fire activity intensified Friday. Aerial resources, including helicopters and airtankers, were used to slow the fire’s advance and buy time for ground crews to strengthen control lines. With support from the Rangeland Fire Protection Associations, firefighters were able to slow the fire’s southern spread. Line has now been established around the entire fire perimeter, and crews will spend the coming days reinforcing it.

Today, crews remain engaged along the fire’s edge, working to protect nearby communities, infrastructure, and natural resources. Aviation support continues to play a key role in cooling hotspots and improving ground safety for firefighters.
Weather and Outlook
Cooler temperatures and lighter winds are expected this weekend, which may help moderate fire behavior. Incident meteorologists are monitoring a slight chance of thunderstorms on Monday.
