Two wildfires in Umatilla County driven by strong winds and low relative humidity were declared a conflagration Tuesday evening by Oregon Governor Tina Kotek. The OSFM has mobilized six task forces from Multnomah, Clackamas, Marion, Lane, Linn, and Yamhill counties. The OSFM Green Incident Management Team has also been mobilized.
The Hat Rock Fire, which sparked just before 11 a.m., had burned across roughly 10,000 acres by Tuesday evening. Firefighters from several surrounding counties have been called in to help.
Hat Rock State Park along the Columbia River was put under a level two evacuation notice.
The Mount Hebron Fire, which was burning outside of Pendleton, had reportedly burned 600 acres and was threatening several homes. According to the incident commander, a total of four homes in the Mount Hebron fire vicinity have self-evacuated.
The region is currently under a red flag warning with gusty wind and low relative humidity in the forecast.
