Overnight, the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal’s Agency Operations Center moved resources to support several fires burning on the west side of the state.
The OSFM’s Red Incident Management Team was mobilized to the Cedar Creek Fire burning near Oakridge. The fire was declared a conflagration Friday afternoon. Two task forces, one from Washington state and one from Yamhill County, are arriving Saturday morning. Late Friday, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office issued Level 3 evacuations for homes and communities in the greater Oakridge area.
The OSFM’s Incident Management Team (Red Team) arrived Saturday morning. The team is focused on protecting the city of Oakridge, West Fir, and High Praire. Local task forces have been working hard and will now be bolstered by several incoming structural protection task forces from Washington State and Yamhill County. Additional resources are also on the way.
The fire remains outside Oakridge and the surrounding communities but today’s high heat will challenge firefighters as they protect homes and critical infrastructure.

Evacuations: Lane County Sheriff’s Office evacuations
Friday evening, a fire sparked at McIver State Park near Estacada in Clackamas County. The fire is being managed by a local incident management team and Estacada Fire. The team requested additional support from the Oregon Fire Mutual Aid System (OFMAS). Our office is sending two task forces from Columbia and Clatsop counties. No additional requests have been received. The fire was estimated to be 18 acres in size. Mutual aid partners from the metro area are assisting along with the Oregon Department of Forestry.

Friday afternoon, the OSFM supported Salem Fire Department with air support for a fire on the south end of the city. Firefighters were called to a brush fire near Vitae Springs Road that quickly grew. OSFM staff worked with local fire agencies to order the aircraft from the Oregon Department of Forestry. Friday afternoon, a helicopter and two fire bosses worked the fire. Overnight crews monitored the fire. Evacuation orders were put in place.
