Sunday night and early Monday morning, seven task forces and the OSFM Blue Incident Management Team arrived at the Lookout Fire in Lane County. The fire is burning near Blue River and McKenzie Bridge. As of Monday morning, the fire was estimated to be 1,202 acres in size and 0 percent contained.
Sunday afternoon and evening, the fire was pushed by gusty winds, high temperatures, and extremely dry conditions. Red Flag Warnings have been posted by the National Weather Service through Monday night.
Oregon Governor Tina Kotek invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act on Sunday which allowed the OSFM to mobilize additional resources. The OSFM quickly assigned two task forces that were pre-positioned in Lane County on Saturday in advance of the challenging weather conditions. Task forces from Clatsop, Tillamook, Central Oregon, Marion, Clackamas, Lane, and Yamhill are assigned to the fire.
Level 2 and level 3 evacuation notices are in place for homes near the fire. Lane County Emergency Management is posting the latest evacuation information on its website.
