Welcome to the Office of State Fire Marshal’s (OSFM) incident information blog. We intend to use this space to keep you updated on incidents our office is responding to, including wildfire incidents, and projects we’re working on.
The OSFM, located in Salem, OR, was established in 1917 and is currently an office under the Oregon State Police. On July 1, 2023, per House Bill 2927, the OSFM will become its own agency. We are rapidly growing over the next year while also working on several large-scale wildfire initiatives, including:
Our mission is “protecting life, property and the environment from fire and hazardous materials.” We work with the Oregon fire service, consisting of 305 fire districts and departments and more than 13,000 firefighters, to ensure our mutual missions and priorities are accomplished.
